People Machine sees things differently...and our story is what makes us unique.
We are passionate about what we do and have an unwavering commitment to Focus, Accuracy, and Innovation. We believe that when it comes to recruitment, speed is good but quality is better, much better. We measure our success by only one metric - the success of our clients.
We believe the recruitment services industry is broken.
The quest of the typical recruitment provider was either to work on as many opportunities as possible to increase their odds of making a successful placement, or to charge very high fees in hopes of maximizing their effort-to-return ratio. They learned to rely on resume databases and job postings. They learned that submitting candidate profiles quickly, without validating measurable candidate qualities like skill, motivation, and organizational fit was the best, most affordable strategy. Although often quite profitable for the recruitment companies themselves, this behaviour forced their clients to develop and invest in large communities of recruitment providers as a mechanism to cast a large enough net to find the people they were looking for. With the increased volume of poorly vetted candidates, managers were forced to spend hours sorting through resumes and managing relationships with all of the staffing firms. Equally as bad, they would hire internal recruiters who would spend their time managing external recruiters rather than recruiting. Although contract rates may have appeared to drop, the actual cost per hire to the company has increased. Making matters worse, service and candidate quality have dropped.
To sum it up costs have gone up, while service and quality have gone down!
Not only do we see things differently...we built People Machine to be different.
Chris and Scott met over 15 years ago, over which time they've successfully collaborated on the successful recruitment and hire of 100's of people in some of the most competitive, most supply-deficient markets in North America.
As the story goes, Scott, frustrated by the repeated struggles he'd experienced with the typical technology recruitment providers, met with, and shared insight with Chris, who was providing technology recruitment services to similar organizations. Their individual experiences provided them with the opportunity to not only view the problem from opposing perspectives but also to evaluate and develop unique solutions to the problem.
Together they recognized that a higher-touch, more innovative recruitment offering that focused on measurable candidate quality, and helped clients achieve more than just their hiring goals was the answer. Changing the way that organizations viewed, evaluated and tackled their recruitment challenges became their goal.
Over the next 10 years, through countless experiments, trial and error, theory and reality, they slowly put the puzzle together. Scott pushed Chris as a recruitment services provider, and Chris educated and enabled Scott as a client. They developed a shared-goal-platform, that aligned their individual metrics so they could develop, build and implement a compelling recruitment model that considered all perspectives; client, provider and candidate; and, critically, benefited everyone equally.
With the launch of People Machine in 2019, the model Chris and Scott carefully developed and refined for 15 years, has finally been made available to other organizations.
People Machine does things differently.
